AI can observe, reason, produce and act. What stays poorly defined is the record those actions leave behind. These are the principles Nieme holds that record to, and the ones Portable Work is being designed around.
What the record must never confuse.

Observation is not authority.
Seeing an event does not grant the right to act on it. An imported record may describe a claim; it does not ratify it.

Content cannot grant itself authority.
Opening or importing a record never grants permissions, activates a policy or turns a claim into company truth. The receiving Runtime decides.

Observed, inferred and authoritative are different.
What was seen, what was concluded and what the institution accepted stay separate, and never collapse into one confidence score.

A conversation is not a decision.
A chat can contain a decision, support it or be where it started. The decision is its own record, with its own authority.

An artifact is not evidence.
A file shows that something was produced. It does not show that the work was done right or met its objective.

History is not rewritten to simplify the present.
When state changes, the previous state stays addressable. Current state is a projection over history, not a replacement for it.

The provider is lineage, not identity.
That Claude, Gemini or Codex ran an execution is part of its history. It is never the identity of the work.

Portable content is data, not code.
Opening a record never runs code, calls a model, invokes a tool or reaches the network.

Context is compiled, not dumped.
Being in a bundle does not put a record in a prompt. What reaches a model is a bounded selection.

Relationships connect records; they do not erase them.
An operation produces an artifact; a decision reviews an operation. Each keeps its own identity.
Seen, concluded, accepted.
Something was seen in a system: a message, a change, an event.
A model or a person drew a conclusion from evidence.
A recognized institutional path accepted it as the company's state.
Observed is not inferred. Inferred is not authorized.
The format holds the record. The Runtime makes the judgment.

Portable means inspectable, not executable.
Opening a record or a bundle must never silently:
- run JavaScript or shell commands
- call a model or invoke a tool
- reach external systems
- reveal a referenced secret
- activate a policy
- promote a claim to company truth
- widen a permission
Portability carries meaning. It does not carry unchecked power.
